FCRE Member Services-Tours sponsors a continuing series of domestic and international tours tailored especially for members and their guests. In addition, a number of day tours are also offered to area buildings, museums, events, and programs. All programs are announced in the FCRE Advocate mailed to all current members.
Travel Notes

* All tours are funded by participants only, not by membership dues.
* A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve each tour space.
* Each non-member guest pays a $25 guest fee for each tour.
* All rates are per person, double occupancy (pp/do). Supplementary costs apply for those travelling alone. Travelers are responsible for arranging for their own roommates.
* Not all locations or sites are handicapped accessible.
* Persons with disabilities wishing to reserve space for any tour program should enclose a letter describing their needs with their initial reservation deposit so that FCRE Member Services and tour suppliers can determine if those needs can be met.
Upcoming Trips

2009


Our fall trip for 2009 will be Best of the Rhine River visiting countries along the Rhine: Holland, Germany, France and Switzerland. Our tour (September 26 - October 5, 2009) will begin in Amsterdam where we will board our ship and tour the canals of Amsterdam. We will visit a cheese factory and learn the art of cheese making. Our cruise will continue through the picturesque Dutch countryside to Nijmegen and Krefeld, Germany. The romantic scenery of the Rhine River unfolds as we cruise past the provincial capital of Dusseldorf and the medieval town of Zons. We will arrive in Cologne where we will explore the historic town, then cruise on past Bonn, the old university town and birthplace of Beethoven and arrive in Konigswinter. We will enjoy views of breathtaking castles nestled in hillside vineyards and continue to ejoy the scenery as we visit Rudesheim and Speyer in Germany, Strasbourg in France, and Lucerne in Switzerland. The Best of the Rhine River trip is scheduled for a departure date of September 26, 2009. The cost of the 10-day trip (includes 21 meals and air) for FCRE members is $3774 pp/do for lower outside cabin and $4074 pp/do for upper outside cabin. Deposit/insurance of $485 is due January 26, 2009. Final payment is due May 26, 2009.  Look for updates in future issues of the Advocate.


New for Summer of 2009! National Parks Tour, June 13-24, 2009. This trip will include visits to Scottsdale, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, Custer State Park, and Mount Rushmore. Our 12-day tour includes 17 meals and air; FCRE member cost is $3149 pp/do. Deposit/insurance of $240 is due February 13, 2009; final payment is due April 14, 2009.





2010

San Antonio and Dallas New Year's Trip, December 28, 2009 - January 2, 2010. This trip features American Venice - the Riverwalk of San Antonio, the Alamo, a Tex-Mex Cooking Class, New Year's Eve Party, visit to a dude ranch in Dallas and a visit to a winery in Grapevine, Texas. Reasonably priced at $1999 pp/do for members and $2024 pp/do for non-members. Deposit/insurance of $240 is due by July 28, 2009. A great way to see in the New Year!


Australia: From the Outback to the Glaciers (February 4-25, 2010) - A once-in-a-lifetime trip to include Melbourne, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Cairns, Great Barrier Reef, Christchurch, Franz Josef Glacier Region, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mt. Cook National Park. 20 days, 26 meals. Member cost $6629 pp/do; non-members add $25. Deposit/insurance of $475 due by September 6, 2009. International air and several inner air trops for Australia and New Zealand included in cost. Optional 2-Night Fiji Extension available!


Tuscany in 2010! Space has been reserved for FCRE for April 29 - May 8, 2010 for Tuscany (Rome, Florence, Sienna, etc.). One highlight is 6 nights in a spa town! Cost: $3099 pp/do for members and $3124 pp/do for non-members. The deposit/insurance is $450 due by October 29, 2009. Start planning today!


Shades of Ireland - June 27 - July 6, 2010. Highlights: House party in Dublin; Kilkenny, Waterford, Blarney Stone, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Limerick, Cabra Castle; Extension to Northern Ireland possible. Cost: approximately $3100 pp/do (price not yet set) - 10 days, 13 meals. More information to come!




September 30 - October 9, 2010: Canada's Atlantic Coast, Nova Scotia. Highlights: Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Citadel, Hopewell Rocks, Lobster Excursion, Prince Edward Island, visit museum of Anne of Green Gables, Cavendish National Park, Cape Breton Island, Cabot Trail! Enjoy the fall foliage - red sugar maples. 10 days, 14 meals. Member cost - $2724 pp/do; non-members add $25. Deposit/insurance due date to be set. More information to come!


California New Year's Getaway to the Tournament of Roses Parade - December 29, 2010 - January 3, 2011. Highlights - reserved seats for the Tournament of Roses Parade, behind the scenes of float decoration, reserved seats for the Glory of Christmas Show; New Year's Eve Party. Optional 3-night extension to Las Vegas! 5 days, 6 meals. Member cost: $2024 pp/do; non-members add $25. More to come on this trip!
