 Advocate Updates and Highlights

W. Harold Ford Scholarship Winners

The Selection Committee of the W. Harold Ford Scholarship Foundation chose two Fairfax County Public Schools students as the new recipients of the annual scholarship awards. The 2009 winners are Jessica S. Hassanzadeh from Fairfax High School and Caitrin E. Rhoads from West Potomac High School. Congratulations!

Keep Sending Cards and Letters to School Board

When the Advocate reported the death of SEBAC, we asked you to let the School Board know what you thought of doing away with a three decade long method of communication on benefits. From the number of emails, calls, and personal contacts we have had from you, you did just that! It is greatly appreciated, but we cannot stop now.

Keep the emails, phone calls, letters, etc., going to the School Board. We cannot allow the School Board as our elected representatives to dismiss us as if we did not count in the whole scheme of benefits. A list of all FCPS School Board members with addresses and phone numbers is available in the May Advocate.

Legato School Museum

Fairfax City's annual Independence Day celebration will include Open House visits to Fairfax County Retired Educators' Legato School Museum. Hours will be 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Admission is free for guests of all ages.
