Objectives
FCRE provides continuing opportunities:
* to assist retired and active education employees in maximizing retirement benefits and opportunities;
* to promote the social, professional, educational, and economic welfare of retired school employees;
*
to engage in legislative projects to protect and improve retirement benefits;
* to meet with members for the exchange
of ideas and information of common interest;
* to support future educators through our college scholarship program.

FCRE Membership
The FCRE membership year is July 1 to June 30.
Membership
dues are: * Annual Membership --- $25 * Three-year Membership --- $67.50.
Education employees retiring
on or after April 1 receive FREE membership valid through June 30 of the following year.
Those retiring between January 1 and March 31 receive FREE membership through June 30 of the current
year.
Family members and friends of Active FCRE members, who are not eligible for membership as educators, may
join as Associate Members for an initial three-year term at the rate shown above.

FCRE Benefits FCRE members enjoy the following membership benefits:
Luncheon
Meetings -- Meet your friends generally on the second Thursday of September, October, December, February, April and
June at luncheon meetings in the Fairfax area. These meetings feature a variety of programs of entertainment, noted speakers,
and activities.
Periodic Newsletters -- Our FCRE Advocate, published nine
times annually, brings you news of upcoming FCRE activities and programs. The Advocate features articles on your
health benefits, health care, and federal, state, and local legislative actions of concern to retirees. The newsletter also
contains information about travel opportunities, exhibits, consumer awareness, finance, etc.
Member Services-Tours --
FCRE presents information concerning travel opportunities. Trips in the past have been to Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills
and the Badlands of South Dakota, New York, Ireland, England, the Greek Isles, etc.
Member Activities--
Special member activity groups include film screenings, book discussions, investment groups, afternoon teas, writing, bridge,
etc.
Annual Scholarships -- All FCRE members are also members of the W. Harold Ford Scholarship
Foundation, Inc., a subsidiary of FCRE, Inc. Each spring the Foundation awards one or more college scholarships to graduating
seniors in Fairfax County's secondary and high schools for study to prepare for a career in education.
Economic
Benefits -- Interest-bearing checking and savings accounts are available without service charges through FCRE-Apple
Federal Credit Union membership. Auto, mortgage, personal loans and other financial services are also available at lower than
commercial and market rates.
Government Relations Team (GRT) -- Pension and health premium benefit
increases earned by FCRE legislative action, both locally and in the Virginia legislature, benefit all retirees under the
Virginia Retirement System (VRS), the Educational Retirement Fairfax County (ERFC) and Fairfax County Employees Retirement
System (FCERS).
